Country Winds Farm

You may recall Jim Burnison, owner and operator of Country Winds Farm, and his daughter Courtney from last year’s 'Meet Your Farmer' initiative. Their fruit farm, located in Beamsville, ON, supplied fresh, local, and low spray peaches, plums, grapes, apples, pears and more to Crème Fraîche Market Café and its patrons.

 

 

Organic Meadow

Organic Meadow is one of the most successful organic farmers’ cooperatives in Canada whose members are family farmers working with nature to create healthy soil, healthy plants and healthy animals – the result of which is locally-farmed organic milk and other dairy products of the highest quality. For over 20 years, Organic Meadow has remained true to its roots; committed to preserving the family farm and a healthy environment using sustainable organic practices with dedication to quality, honesty and giving back to the community.

Highmark Farms

Highmark Farm is a family run mixed farm operation in Cookstown, ON.  They farm about one hundred and twenty acres, twenty of which are market garden vegetables. You likely recognize Carmen from her consistent visits to our 'Meet Your Farmer' initiative and Sunday evening CSA Box pick up.  Her and her family stock Crème Fraîche Market Cafe's shelves with their produce and eggs year-round, which often find their way into our soups, salads, sandwiches and more.

Bizjak Farms

Milan Bizjak, owner of Bizjak Farms, is passionate about tree-ripened fruit. His orchards, which produce apples, pears, plums, peaches as well as other tree fruits and berries, are located in beautiful Beamsville, ON. He aims to reduce the farm’s ecological footprint and encourages environmental as well as agricultural sustainability by combining old-world and new-world farming practices.

Niagara Food Specialties

Niagara Food Specialties began with the Pingue family in Niagara as early as 1975. Today, brothers Mario and Fernando are committed to sustainability in local food production and maintaining food traditions that may one day be lost to the mass industrialization of the food system. Their suppliers are either certified organic or on a naturally raised program. They are free range, fed only non-GMO feeds, given no animal by-products, antibiotic/hormone free and humanely harvested. Their products are then salt preserved - nitrate and phosphate free - and spiced with products grown on their own farm without the use of pesticides.

Marvellous Edibles Farm

Marvellous Edibles Farm is a family run operation located 2.5 hours northwest of Toronto on the stunningly beautiful Niagara escarpment growing beautiful organic and often heritage and heirloom non-hybrid vegetables planted with the moon phases. The farm also takes its fresh organic produce, including hand-picked heritage vegetables and mouth-watering fruits, making them into award winning jams, preserves, pickles, salsa and hot peppers.

Samsara Farms

Samsara Fields is an organic farm conceived in 2009 and located in Waterford, ON specializing in heirloom varieties of seasonal vegetables that are no longer commercially available. Their heirloom varieties are richer in vitamins, more colourful and attractive, and their amazing tastes make supermarket produce seem like plastic.

Poschaven Farms

Poschaven Farms located in New Liskeard, ON stock Crème Fraîche Market Café's shelves with local and organically grown and processed flours including buckwheat, whole wheat and bran. All of their crops have been grown using strict certified organic standards. They plant only certified organic, non-GMO, and untreated seed. All products are processed on their farm.

Warner’s Farm

Warner’s Farm is a local, sustainable fruit farm in Beamsville, ON. They grow cherries, apricots, peaches, pears, plums, apples, grapes and nuts. They stock Crème Fraîche Market Cafe’s shelves with their award winning Concord Grape Juice and seasonal delights.

Thiessen Farms

Thiessen Farms (operating since 1947) is located in Jordan Station, ON and includes 3 generations of family working together to grow and market great tasting fruit and  vegetables. They specialize in many varieties of sweet cherries, plums, pears, peaches, 2 nectarines, raspberries and blackberries. In the spring and summer, they grow and sell many vegetables including their signature heirloom tomatoes (over 100 kinds).

Greengate Farms

For over 96 years, Greengate Farms has raised cattle and pigs on their farm outside Kitchener, ON. Even today, their retain the same basic principles - ethically and naturally raised animals leading to a better quality product. They work with local suppliers and grow a large portion of their own feed to make sure the animals are getting the best, most balanced feed.
